bar-ONE: FM2's Thursday night "HOT SPOT"
Thursday March 8, 2012
The atmosphere at bar-ONE on Thursday (3/8/12) was sexy, sultry, and sophisticated. The temps in ATL had reached 75 degrees so an evening of tasty tapas, delicious drinks and banging beats was a fantastic way to end a day more reminiscent of spring than winter. The crowd was "grown and sexy" with a nice age spread that successfully blended the 40 and older crowd (like myself) with the 25 to 30's crowd. The men ranged from the distinguished and conservative "suited up" type to the "trendy and fly" who dress to their own beat. The women were gorgeous and impeccably attired as you would expect for a lovely "feel like spring" evening in "Black Hollywood." Newly manicured toes happy to be out of boots, were boldly displayed in open toe shoes and toned bodies rocked leggings, skinny jeans, and tantalizing, curve hugging micro dresses. Yeah, that's right. Take a minute to paint a mental picture, and then multiply the “sexy-ness” by a thousand and you'll have an accurate picture of the scene. Though the crowd was fabulous, it was a friendly, unpretentious crowd that made mixing, networking and mingling easy and fun.
The team behind "Follow Me 2" (FM2), kicked off their series of mixers at bar-ONE located at 687 Memorial Drive in Grant Park. It was the first of 3 Thursday night "hot spots" that they plan to host there. The next two are Thursday 3/22 and 3/29. Devin Green (formerly of the LA Lakers), Baio Badejo, Sean Green, and Mike Johnson formed FM2 and are kicking off their promotional activities by scouting the city for sexy / hot lounges to host and promote parties. The handsome, charismatic quartet did a sensational job creating an atmosphere that made every guest feel like a VIP.
They worked the room; personally greeting everyone and even managed to make it back through a second time to ensure guests were being taken care of. The extra attention was a nice touch.

The service from bar-One’s wait and bar staff was second to none as well! The drinks were skillfully mixed and generously "spirited" if you know what I mean. My favorite bar tender, Shauna, mixes the perfect lemon drop martini and has an uncanny ability to remember patrons’ names and drink selections from visit to visit: great personal touch! The food is excellent as well and the prices are unbelievably low. My personal favorites are the fried catfish fingers, oxtail soup and the sweet potato fries. If you like to try unique and exotic drinks, the Lychee martini which features the sweet and succulent lychee fruit, is awesome.
And finally, the tunes: I’m pleased to report that the music was on point. This is BIG to me when it comes to enjoying an evening out. It was a mixture of R & B, hip hop and soul that included new and old sounds. They even slipped in some Notorious B.I.G. and that’s always a crowd pleaser. It was just the blend and type of music you want to hear when you're out sippin' and vibin' with old friends and forging connections with new ones. Heads bopped and toes tapped the whole night.
The final report: if you’re a lounge or bar owner looking to expose, promote and rejuvenate your spot this spring and summer party season, you need to hit these guys up. I’ve been to bar-ONE many times before and FM2 definitely brought a nice crowd, hot music, and a fresh, exciting energy and vibe. I thought that was great because it’s a fabulous venue with great food, drinks and service that appears to be both under-appreciated and under-patronized despite its exposure on the popular reality series “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

So with that said, you're cheating yourself if you don't make it out to bar-ONE next Thursday (3/15) from
8 pm to 2 am to check out FM2's super-hot, super-hip Thursday night mixer. And don't forget to tell them Felicia from "Lounge Around Atlanta" sent you!
