Make Black Friday About More Than Shopping

I sincerely hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving spent with friends, family......& FOOD of course! My birthday fell on Thanksgiving this year so I enjoyed mine immensely. It was so relaxing to just sit in the house with my family and a few friends, eat delicious food and watch football (How 'bout dem Redskins....by the way). But after eating myself up 2 dress sizes and being cooped in for 2 days straight; Wednesday - preparing the feast and Thursday - devouring it, I'm ready to get out and spread my wings a little (they're probably up a few sizes too). Since incurring life threatening injuries at WalMart over cheap flat screens doesn't particularly sound like fun to me, I've opted for a different escape. So if you're feeling a little "Cabin Fever" as well, check out some of the places that are sure to be fun spots to mix and mingle on Black Friday.

The St. Regis: The bar and lounge at the St. Regis is elegant, classy and great for a happy hour date or just an evening out with friends.  There's a very diverse clientele (varying ages and nationalities) plus a fabulous  patio with comfy seating, fireplaces and tons of ambiance. Nice place to enjoy today's mild weather with friends, a shot of Tequila and a cigar. Also, if you are looking to network, look no further. You'll get the professional crowd you desire in a laid back environment that invites conversation. It's a pleasant surprise  that despite the regal environment of an upscale hotel such as the St. Regis that you can still enjoy a crowd and atmosphere that is inviting and anything but stuffy.

Indigo Bar & Rooftop Lounge: Jagged Edge is hosting the official Single Release Party for their new single: "Before You Walk Outta My Life."  It is a double bang for your buck because it's also the Sexy Black Dress Edition of "Guest List Fridays." And guess what that means? It means 2 things actually. One, if you're a lady you get to put on your sexiest black dress, come out and enjoy an OPEN BAR from 10-11 PM.   Two - Everyone can get free admission by going to www.guestlistfridays.com to RSVP. If you've never been to Indigo, check it out because you'll love it. It's a really sexy, cool spot that feels like Manhattan. The owners are usually there and they make their rounds ensuring that everyone feels like a VIP. My girlfriend visiting from DC was here last month so I took her there to hear my favorite local band, Gritz & Jelly Butter and she loved it. The owner and bar staff took very good care of us. Incidentally, Gritz & Jelly Butter will be there today from 7:30 to 10 or so, then they're off to Purple Rain.

Buckhead Bottle Bar: This spot is usually cool on Fridays and now with new management (Solomon, former manager of Justin's) the music is on point and the crowd is back. I'll probably pop by there after I leave the St. Regis and Indigo. It's right in my back yard so it's easy to make it the last stop on the train. Gotta make my rounds so I can know what to recommend to you!!

Purple Rain Restaurant & Lounge:  10 PM to 2 AM  Thomas Washington Presents: Black Friday at Purple Rain. Free admission with RSVP before 11:30 PM and ladies get free Martini's until 11:00 PM. Gritz & Jelly Butter will perform 10 - 2. So if you miss them earlier at Indigo, you can catch them here!
